Me and the Hubs

Well, hello there! I’m Trish and I’m married to that handsome devil, Paul. We are living our love story in Virginia (it is for lovers, after all). Originally from New Jersey, Paul and I have lived in Maryland, Florida, and now, good ole Virginia thanks to a little organization known as the United States Navy. I’ll get to that in a minute.

First thing’s first, a little bit about us. Paul and I were married on June 10th, 2007 in beautiful Annapolis, Maryland. We started dating freshman year of high school and have been together ever since- yep, we’re those people. I’m a busy 28- year old kindergarten teacher who has a love for shopping, rescuing furniture from the curb, yoga, and home improvement projects. Paul (aka the hubs) is a 29- year old Naval Aviator who has a love for all New York Sports teams, carrying furniture from the curb (not really), accumulating tools, and running and training for marathons when he’s not gallivanting around the world in his airplane.

Did I mention that the hubs and I are 100% certifiably crazy dog people? You would be too if you lived with these two faces. Meet Mattingly and Macie:

Who doesn’t love a smushed faced dog?

The Navy has brought us up and down the east coast into quite a few different homes, but we finally became grownups in 2009 when we bought our first house, and she’s a doozy. We have learned so much over the last few years, and love to share the up’s and down’s of the roller coaster ride that is home ownership.

That brings us to this little blog of mine. Since buying our home, I’ve become obsessed with all things home imrovement and DIY related. From painting, to tiling, to building a deck, we’ve done it all, and mostly by ourselves. My head is a harboring spot for so many projects and this is the perfect place for me to get it all out. Plus, the hubs and my friends and family appreciate that it helps me stop blabbing their ear off!

You may also notice from our photo that we about to embark on a DIY project of a different caliber, our first baby. Follow us as we take on first time parenthood- I promise it won't be boring!

Follow us as I take you through our journey of two three people, learning our way through life and our first home.

I hope you enjoy This Life of Ours, we certainly do.

  2. Glad I found your blog, I love your smushed face dogs, tales of home ownership (isn't it fun?!) and DIY projects (we just finished a major bathroom remod, with the help of some seriously talented friends and a guy named Juan). If you're still doing the recipe swap, I'd love to join the fun. I'm actually planning a recipe swap party at my house May 14. It should be fun. Anywho.....hope you'll visit my lil' piece of the blog woods too:
