Winter table challenge

Back in high school, I used to watch the TV show South Park. Though, I gave up the cartoon before college, there always has been one scene that stuck with me. Kyle sings about the woes of being Jewish during Christmastime. Some may find the song a little offensive, but it completely sums up how I feel this time of year (warning, the end of the song has some strong language).

Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of my religion, but there is a huge teensy weensy part of me that wishes I could celebrate Christmas too. The holiday is built up for months and sometimes it stinks not being part of the excitement!

What I envy most about my Santa believing friends is the decor that comes along with Christmas. The ornaments, the tree, the lights...I could go on and on. For a girl that loves to decorate, it's a bit heartbreaking. Even decorating for winter is so difficult because there is such a fine line between "winter" and "Christmas." One misplaced reindeer and BAM! your winterscape has turned into Santa's workshop.

So this year I was on a mission to decorate my dining room for winter without hinting at the North Pole. Because the task was so difficult, there was no messing around with thrift stores. I meant business so I pulled out the big guns; Pottery Barn (I had a coupon woohoo!). As always, my go to decor store didn't let me down. I firmly believe that I achieved a winter theme without any hint of Christmas. Care to take a look?

Going in, I didn't really know exactly what I was looking for, but I knew that when I found my decor, I would just know. Then I stumbled upon these...

I found these gorgeous napkins and freesia napkin rings in the sale section. I grabbed four of each for my table settings and felt a woodsy, green and cream theme coming on. This was confirmed when I found these two love doves. Paired up with some moss and woodsy candles, I knew I had my supplies and I was ready to decorate!

I missed out on some beginning stage photos but the process began with folding a table cloth and added a cream pashmina as a runner. The perfect backdrop for my winter scene. By using my newly aquired PB purchases, and some already owned candle sticks, silver chargers, and hurricane vases, here is my final look:

The only thing I am missing is pine cones in the hurricane vase with the moss, but I'm waiting for the rain to stop so I can gather them from the yard, dry them out, and spray paint them silver and white. Otherwise, I am really happy with my winter table scape that is Christmas free. Best part? Being a Jew doesn't feel so lonely anymore!
